The ultimate goal of The ORIGINS Project is to reduce the rising epidemic of non-communicable diseases through 'a healthy start to life'.
As well as ORIGINS long-term core research, there are a number of clinical trials, early interventions and shorter-term research studies that sit within the project.
The ORIGINS Project provides researchers, students, clinicians and universities with a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in changing the health of future generations.
On Sunday, 25th October the ORIGINS team hosted a special 'ORIGINS Explorers' marquee at the Telethon Family Festival held at Optus Stadium.
Part of this year's new-look Telethon Weekend, the Family Festival was sold out with an incredible 23,000 tickets sold. Though it was a very hot and sticky day the event was a huge success and Telethon managed to raise more than $46 million across the Telethon Weekend. Well done WA!!
Visitors to the ORIGINS Booth went on a Milestone Adventure, creating their own personalised book to take home and turning themselves into ORIGINS Explorers adding their photo to the cover.
Activities included digging for allergy bugs, finding special leaves, jumping as far as they could and building tall towers, all activities that enhanced their development through play. Parents also learned more about The ORIGINS Project and the developmental milestones to look out for in a child’s first five years.
The ORIGINS Team thanks all the families who came to visit us and would like to sincerely thank the people of WA who so generously contributed to Telethon, of which The ORIGINS Project is a beneficiary.
