The ultimate goal of The ORIGINS Project is to reduce the rising epidemic of non-communicable diseases through 'a healthy start to life'.
As well as ORIGINS long-term core research, there are a number of clinical trials, early interventions and shorter-term research studies that sit within ORIGINS. Known as sub-projects, these studies look at multiple aspects of child and family health and development.
The ORIGINS Project provides researchers, students, clinicians and universities with a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in changing the health of future generations.
The ORIGINS Project is wanting to capture the feelings and hopes about the world and the future of WA families and ORIGINS participants, in particular our little people, through art.
We are inviting families to submit drawings or works of art from their child/children that depict their thoughts on being involved in ORIGINS, how they are feeling about the world, their idea of health and happiness, and their wishes for the future.
Specifically, we are asking kids to ‘draw or create’ their thoughts on one of the following:
We ask parents to write their child’s first name and age on the bottom of their work, then photograph it and send the photo into the ORIGINS team.
Along with your submission, please also complete the e-consent form, found by clicking here, giving us permission to display the artwork publicly.
Submissions will go into a random draw to win a $150 e-voucher.
Your child’s artwork will be included in a virtual exhibition for the international inVIVO Planetary Health Conference 2021 - led by ORIGINS Co-Director Professor Susan Prescott - which will take place virtually in December. Find out more about the conference here.
Submissions will also be eligible for a children’s art prize, which is being offered through InVIVO.
Parents, carers and grandparents are also invited to submit their own depiction of their answers to the above questions, following the steps above to submit their entry.
ENTRIES CLOSE: 10 NOVEMBER
We look forward to seeing all the gorgeous artwork.
If you are needing inspiration, read this guide to assist with starting a conversation with your child for this activity. This includes ideas and suggestions to stimulate creative thinking and a clear outline of what we are asking our kids to do (in 'kid-speak').
